A Brief History
Wheaton’s First Baptist Church was formed about the time that Abraham Lincoln was drafting his Gettysburg Address. About twenty brave pioneers created this local church in 1864. The church has met continuously since that year in various facilities in the city of Wheaton. It’s a church with a great heritage. Today we try to strike a dynamic balance between respecting our heritage of faith and service and envisioning creative new strategies to meet needs in the 21st century.
First Baptist Church of Wheaton is not formally related to any denomination or baptist association. We are members of the National Association of Evangelicals and we have cordial relationships with many Gospel-based churches in DuPage county.
These days First Baptist has about 500 members.
